Hui Mālama Ola Nā ʻŌiwi offers nutrition classes island-wide throughout the year:
Hele Mai ‘Ai
Learn about basic nutritional information covering fat, salt, and sugar.
Learn practical application techniques of label reading, recipe modification, and exercise.
This class is free and offered island-wide. Open to all.
Classes consist of 2 hour sessions once a week for three weeks.
Mindful Eating Lab
The Mindful Eating Lab program is an experiential course to enhance food pleasure and nutritional benefits:
Mindful Eating Lab Level 1: In this 4-week online course, learn how to slow down the eating process, listen to physiological cues of hunger/fullness/satisfaction, while making mindful food choices that enhance nutritional benefits and overall health.
Mindful Eating Lab Level 2: This online, 3-week experiential course builds on the principles of Level 1. Mindful eating promotes increased enjoyment of food while empowering one to better nourish their body, mind and spirit. Recommended for clients who have taken a Level 1 Mindful Eating Lab or a Healthy at Any Size class.
This series will focus on how to:
- Use mindfulness to address emotional eating
- Identify trigger foods that may cause binging
- Shift one’s mindset away from good vs bad foods
- Strengthen one’s ability to listen to physiological cues
