HILO, HI – February 11, 2021 – Hui Mālama Ola Nā ʻŌiwi (Hui Mālama), the Native Hawaiian Health Care System of Hawaiʻi island, is pleased to announce the selection of Lehua Andrade as its new Executive Director.
Lehua reunites with the organization and began her new role on Monday, January 11, 2021. Having previously worked at Hui Mālama in community outreach and leadership positions, Lehua has a keen knowledge of the organization’s mission and vision, and has demonstrated her expertise in community health care, collaboration, and program implementation.
Hui Mālama Board of Directors are excited for this next step and Board Chair Noelani Hoʻopai describes, “Lehua comes to us with over 10 years of experience in the health care field, program development with outcomes and deliverables, networking, and is intimately familiar with the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) guidelines and requirements. Working as a team that builds on communication and trust is one of her many positive attributes that she also brings to HMONO.”
As the new Executive Director, Lehua will work closely with Hui Mālama staff to ensure the organization can continue to adapt and serve the community through the COVID-19 pandemic. Emphasizing adaptation and growth, Lehua says, “This is an interesting time we live in and it provides us with a great opportunity to innovate and transform how we do business.” She adds, demonstrating her commitment to the organization’s mission, “Our mission in uplifting the health of the people of Hawaiʻi and of our Hawaiian Nation is foremost.”
With a seamless transition to new leadership, Hui Mālama looks forward to continuing its efforts to improve the health & well-being of Hawaiʻi island so we can all Live Longer & Feel Better, Together.
